2012 State Competition

Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee, hosted the 2012 Tennessee State Competition Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28. With more than 168 competitive entries, the competition continues to grow steadily, up from only 118 competitive entries in 2009, according to Tennessee Christian Education Board Chairman Ken Akers. “It’s great to see more kids and more churches get involved,” he said. “Tennessee students are excited about competition.”

Competitors in grades 1-12 entered 35 different categories of competition this year, with significant growth in the number of Bible competitors. “That’s what it is all about,” said Danny Conn, National Youth Conference coordinator. “At the end of the day, we want kids to develop their biblical knowledge and develop their talent so they can serve the Lord.”

November 9-11, 2012 | Mainstay Suites | Pigeon Forge, TN

It’s a dirty world! From television commercials to conversations with friends, sometimes it is difficult to keep your heart and mind pure. But remember…God still expects purity in a dirty world!

Make plans now to “clean up your act.” Join hundreds of other students from Tennessee, November 9-11, as speakers Chris and Tori Sargent take a closer look at God’s plan for staying pure in a dirty world. This retreat will inspire, challenge, and refresh you through worship, games, and unforgettable activities.

During Saturday afternoon free time, take advantage of the many activities Pigeon Forge has to offer, from shopping and go-kart racing to ice skating and hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Last year, some students even braved the crisp fall air to ride “bumper boats” at a nearby amusement park.

Participants will also enjoy a fast-paced mix of games, activities, and contests from“Redneck Wet Suit,” to sock wars and the ever-popular balloon stomp.

“If I had to describe the conference with one word, it would be ‘Wow!’” Said Director Ken Akers, when asked to sum up last year’s retreat weekend. “From the messages to the music to the activities, it was an unforgettable weekend. I hope that every youth groups in the state will make plans to join us for the retreat in 2012.”
